Yoga for Postpartum Depression

Postpartum depression (PPD) may leave you feeling lost, helpless and lonely during this major transition in your life. You may have periods of sadness, crying, guilt, anxiety, sleeping too much or not at all. You may find it hard to enjoy life, and possibly even difficult to bond with your new baby. PPD can occur weeks after birth, up to 1 year postpartum.

Yoga can help control the hormonal imbalance that causes postpartum depression. As you move through yoga asana, the glands and organs of the body are stimulated and balanced. In this class we will focus on breath work to help settle the automatic nervous system, while moving into specific postures that promote relaxation of the body and mind. A regular practice will increase flexibility and strength, tone your muscles and body, helping you to feel more confident in your postpartum body.

Your baby is welcome to attend with you.
